Young patients’ artwork to be featured on custom SkateSkins during Niagara’s annual exhibition vs. USA Hockey’s National Team Development Program

Buffalo, NY – October 17, 2025 – SkateSkins®, the customizable hockey skate wrap brand, has partnered with Niagara University Men’s Hockey and Oishei Children’s Hospital to bring kids’ creativity to the rink in a meaningful way.

Patients from Oishei created original drawings that inspired a full set of custom SkateSkins for Niagara players and referees to wear during Niagara’s annual Division I Men’s exhibition game against USA Hockey’s National Team Development Program (NTDP) on Friday, October 24, at Dwyer Arena. Each child’s work was incorporated into the final designs, turning every pair of skates into a moving canvas of creativity, hope, and community.

After the game, all game-worn SkateSkins will be auctioned off, with proceeds benefiting John R. Oishei Children’s Hospital and its foundation.

“This project is a reminder that hockey has the power to connect people far beyond the rink,” said Matthew Keeler, Founder and Owner of SkateSkins®. “These kids poured their hearts into the artwork, and seeing it come to life on the ice is something special. It’s about giving them a moment to shine and showcasing their creations.”

Phil Rhodes, Director of Hockey Operations at Niagara University, added, “We're thrilled to welcome members of the Oishei team, patients, and the champion kids who helped bring these skate designs to life. For hockey fans in Western New York, this is a unique opportunity to experience the excitement of college hockey, watch some of the top American prospects for the 2026 NHL Draft, and support the incredible work happening at Oishei Children's Hospital."

“At Oishei Children’s Hospital, everything we do is centered around our patients and their families,” said Stephen Turkovich, MD, president of Oishei Children’s Hospital. “This partnership with SkateSkins and Niagara University brings joy and creativity to the rink while celebrating the incredible spirit of our kids. Seeing their artwork come to life in such a meaningful way is a reminder of the strength and inspiration they bring to all of us.”

Every fan in attendance at the October 24 matchup will receive a custom rally towel, presented by Spicy Pickle, Gallo, Choose Love Wine, Spur Vodka, Hope Totes, Niagara Barber Co., Enduraphin, Vigilink, and the Niagara Falls Police Club. A limited run of merchandise featuring artwork from the same young artists will also be available for purchase at the game. All proceeds from merchandise sales will go directly to the Children’s Hospital of Buffalo Foundation.

Tickets for the game are available online here and at the Dwyer Arena box office. Fans are encouraged to arrive early for the warmups to see the custom SkateSkins designs take the ice for the first time.
